Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into scientific programming practices, particularly in bioinformatics. This symposium aims to bring together experiences, tools, and perspectives on the use of generative AI (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Devin, etc.) for scripting and software development in biology.
The morning will feature introductory presentations and a panel discussion where developers, researchers, teachers and trainers will share concrete feedback from their experience (prompting, generated code, successes, and limitations).
The afternoon, optional, will be dedicated to supervised hands-on workshops, allowing participants to collectively test the relevance and limitations of generative AI assistants in various scientific use cases (data loading, parsing, sequence analysis, visualization…), using R or Python.
The symposium is co-organized by the MERIT network, the Institut Français de Bioinformatique (IFB), and the University of Paris Cité.
